A Different Kind of Shooting

My Nikon D40 came today. (And I got a haircut.)

new camera

So far, it is awesome–fast, clean, and cool to hold in my hands. It’s already taking better pictures than my Canon SD-550 ever dreamed. Now if I can just figure out how to make it stop shutting off the screen every two seconds to save battery…

I think that my camera and your camera should go out on a date. My camera is lonely…and because it is older and more experienced, it could probably teach your “hot young thing” a little bit about how to keep things lively and exciting. Your camera is still young and innocent so it’s shy and “shuts down” easily. Definitely needs more experience.

If a Nikon and a Canon had a baby, what would you name it?

Okay, I’ve been up way too late I think. :P

I’ve got to upgrade from my Nikon 8800. It’s not an SLR- it’s got a flip-out screen that stays on and a LOT of optical zoom (10X, plus digital on top). It’s just gotten older. 8 megs. 2005 probably.

I try and keep up on ww.digitalcamerareview.com.

Good luck with your new cam.

I’m one of the folks who came over from SayUncle. Happy shooting!

[...] It was weekend of views. Aside from spending an afternoon looking at the ocean, I went to the Sierra Mountains and visited my parents. We took a drive up the mountains and I tried out the camera, which continues to amaze me. Setting actually make a difference! It’s so fast! Details come out! I mean, you can count these pine needles: [...]

[...] So, lots of driving coming up. To entertain ourselves, we set up a system that will allow us to be completely wired as long as we have cell coverage. This includes Internet access via Kyle’s ENDO wireless internet card and phone-calling ability via a blackberry and calling card. I will also be blogging and taking pictures with my new camera.
